St. Lawrence University

St. Lawrence University is a vibrant, collaborative community of learners who value thought and action. Students tap their full potential, as they embrace the natural environment, engage with global challenges, and experience the relevance and adventure of a liberal arts education in a complex and changing world. With 12 interdisciplinary programs, St. Lawrence provides an inspiring and demanding undergraduate education to students selected for their seriousness of purpose and intellectual promise. The Universitys approximately 2,400 undergraduate and 100 graduate students come from across the nation and around the world. Located between the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains, the national capital of Canada, Ottawa, and the second largest French-speaking city in the world, Montreal, St. Lawrence University provides unparalleled access to international government, cultural and social opportunities, and outdoor recreation. Sustainability is a core University value, and environmental literacy is a mandatory component of the curriculum for the Class of 2017 and beyond. St. Lawrence offers international programs in 17 nations and three domestic off-campus programs (including Adirondack and Sustainability semesters and a New York City Semester), resulting in more than 75 percent of its students studying abroad for some length of time during their college career. The University also boasts one of the nations oldest living-learning interdisciplinary programs for first-year students. St. Lawrence has undergone an educational renaissance in recent years, with ambitious academic initiatives and major facilities improvements throughout campus, but especially in the sciences and the arts. A LEED Gold-certified science complex opened in the fall of 2007, a new performance hall opened in the fall of 2010, and Kirk Douglas Hall, a new 154-bed residence hall built to LEED standards which opened in August 2014.
